Observe the following guidelines,
while eating
It
is very important how we eat the food. If we follow some habits while eating,
we will live healthily and happily. So be aware of the following things. Here
we go...
1. Drinking water:
Don’t
drink water while eating. After 30 minutes from eating food and before 15
minutes from consuming food, we can drink water. If you drink while eating, the
power of the intestine will reduce, and digestion issues may arise. It may
cause less hunger too.
It
is important to follow the habit of not drinking water while eating. It is a
good habit everyone should follow. From childhood we have to practice this good
habit. Our digestion power will increase, and we will live strongly.
2. More chewing food is
good for health:
Our
eating habit should be in the manner of eating slowly and chewing well. If you
chew well, you will live for 100 years healthily. One proverb said “Drink food
and eat water”. Meaning is that, chew the food until it becomes a thick liquid
and then drink that. Drink water slowly and steadily like eating.
Our
ancestors said, eat the food slowly and chew it well. If you take one scoop of
food and chew it for 32 times, then swallow it. This is a healthy habit
followed in our Tamil culture.
If you are ready for consuming food with hunger, eager and enthusiasm, our saliva gland will function well and produce more saliva. Along
with this, other glands in the stomach also produce hormones. It helps with digestion more effectively.
Mouth
helps with digestion first. When we start chewing food, saliva helps to break
food and change it into thick liquid. Then the food will be swallowed and enter
the stomach. In the stomach, other hormones help to digest food.
The
correct method for taking food is to eat easily digestible food first, then
hard to digest food. Drink soups first, it digest easily, and then take other
main food. The easily digestible food will help to produce saliva and other
hormones for digestion.
In
our food, if you have cooked and non-cooked food, you should consume non-cooked
food first. After that, you can eat cooked food. It is good for health.
3. Eat with your hands:
In
foreign culture, people use forks, a spoon and a knife for eating food. They
mostly eat bread and meat that is cut with a knife and using a fork or spoon.
In
India, we eat using our hands. Our food is like that. Rice and sambhar - Dhaal
will eat with hands is more comfortable. We don’t need a spoon or a fork for
eating.
Our
eating habit is better than the western culture. Because we first knead the
food with our fingers, it helps to consume a mouthful of food. First, while we
knead the food, it will blend and in the mouth our teeth will help to break
into more small pieces.
If
you use fingers to eat food, we can eat in the correct measurement. It helps to
eat; food will be a tasty one. We can eat food with satisfaction too.
4. Speak less:
Speak
less while you are eating. It is better not to speak while we eat.
In
foreign culture people will love to talk about various issues while eating.
They discuss business, management, politics, and family issues. It may be a
practice of some people; mostly people don’t speak while eating.
If
you eat without talking, we can fully concentrate on our food. Give full
concentration in eating will give you the knowledge of what we are eating and
how much we are consuming. The concentration helps in chewing food well.
After eating, use the
following strategy:
If
people eat food like a machine, it won’t give health or happiness. We don’t
achieve the full usage of food. So we need to follow some strategy after eating
food too.
1. Take rest after
food:
After
every meal we have to give rest to our body. Don’t do hard work after consuming
food. If you give hard work after eating, our blood circulation will flow
through the brain, hands and legs. But the digestion process needs blood
circulation in the stomach. So if you do hard work, the digestion process will
be the worst affected.
You
will suffer from indigestion and stomach ache. Give some rest and do all the
work. If we take rest, it will help with digestion; after that, we will get
more energy from food. We will work as honey-bee.
2. Go for a walk after
dinner:
After the snack in the
evening or after the dinner, going for a little walk is good for health.
Walking in the open area with plenty of oxygen helps to achieve a peaceful mind
and happiness. While we walk, take a deep breath. It will help with the
digestion process.
3. Don’t do yoga and
exercise:
After
taking food, don’t do yoga and exercise. Because, it will give problem with the
digestion process. The total health will affect.
Food habit and our
satisfaction:
Concentrate
on certain things if you want to live happily and healthily. One of the
important things we should concentrate on the food habit we follow.
The
world is in a hurry. Human do every work in a rapid manner. This is true. But
people should not show speed in eating habit. Don’t eat in a hurry.
People
should schedule their time for food. Without food, no energy; without energy,
no life. So it is important to allot time for consuming food.
There
are no rules for the following:
How much do we consume food?
When will we eat?
How do we eat?
But, we give only suggestions, not
rules. The above-mentioned strategies will be a suggestion, not a compulsion.
If you follow it, you will live a healthy and long life too.
If
you follow those things, you can live healthily. You can lead a happy life too.
