THE RIGHT EATING STRATEGY
Part-1
Most
of the people do not know the proper eating strategy. They mostly think
whatever we eat goes to our intestine and gets digested. So, they do not give
much importance to the eating method. But, there is a strategy which was followed
by our ancestors which is to give way to a healthy lifestyle. Let’s look at it.
We
consume food to develop our body, to extract the nutrients from the food we eat.
We have to eat food to achieve those things. The right eating strategy is the method
which is traditionally followed by our ancestors. If we follow that, we surely
get a healthy lifestyle.
THINGS TO LOOK OUT FOR
BEFORE EATING:
Before we take food, we
should concentrate on some things. What are they? Let’s look...
1. Disposal of waste from our body:
In the
morning, before consuming breakfast, you should finish the urination and
defecation process. Then, before lunch and dinner we should finish urination.
This helps the stomach to take food and energize.
2. Wash your face,
hands and legs:
Before
we start to eat, we should wash our faces, hands and legs cleanly. It helps to
take food in the clean hands. If we wash, we get freshness and our nerves
rejuvenate. These nerves rejuvenating will help in excess saliva secretion.
This saliva secretion helps in the fast digestion process. So we should
practice the habit of washing our faces, hands and legs before eating.
3. Walking and talking:
People
can be classified into two types. One is those people without much hard work
and simply sitting in the house, and the other is the people who come from work
and eat in an urgent.
In the
first category people should do a little walk and start eating. This is good
for health. The second category of people, who come from work in an urge and
eat food fast and go back to work, should avoid this. Just sit back and talk
with people for some time, and then they can start eating leisurely. If they
follow this relaxed eating method, they live long with sound health.
4. Sitting in the floor
while eating:
Nowadays,
people are mostly sitting at a dining table while eating. Inevitably, at
functions, we can use table chairs for sitting while eating, and it may give
comfort too.
In South
Indian culture, we follow sitting on the floor and sitting cross-legged while eating.
If you sit like this, the body is in a straight 90 degrees, and the blood
circulation will be in the stomach part rather than the area below the hip. So
it will make the digestion process easier.
Sitting
cross-legged – Sugasana - promotes blood circulation by relaxing the
nerves and relieving strain on them. Blood circulation is one of the most
critical aspects of digestion. Our hearts tend to work overtime to assist our
digestive system in order to keep up with this process. Sitting on the floor
and eating can help in this situation.
There's
a reason monks meditate on the ground rather than sitting in seats! According
to many religious and spiritual views, connecting with the spiritual side is
easier when you sit on the floor at the same level as children and animals.
In
India, sitting and eating is a relatively new phenomenon. Even maharajas – the kings
used to eat while sitting on the floor. Chairs are still uncommon in many parts
of India and Asia. The fact that humans can sit on the floor with such ease
demonstrates that our bodies have been doing so for a long time.
If we
sit at the dining table, our legs are hanging and blood flow will be higher in
the toes than in the middle part of the body. The digestion process does not
get enough blood circulation, and the digestion process would be difficult.
This
is the reason why Indians follow the method of sitting on the floor while
eating.
5. Use Banana leaf and
plates:
The
South Indians use the banana leaf for serving food on it for eating. It is
fresh, and we can clean it with water. We can serve food on the banana leaf and
eat. It is the traditional method of healthy eating.
Eating
on the banana leaf is not only delicious, environmentally good, hygienic, and
convenient, but it is also chemical-free. In every manner, eating on a banana
leaf is beneficial. It's high in poly-phenols, which are natural antioxidants
present in green tea as well. These poly-phenols fight all of the body's free
radicals and keep illnesses at bay. Poly-phenol oxidase, an enzyme used to
treat Parkinson's disease, is abundant in the banana leaf.
The
ancient people used mud plates for serving food. This is also a healthy eating
habit. Now, people use metal plates instead of banana leaf and mud plates.
Good metals:
Using
silver plates, glass plates, China clay plates and bronze plates is good.
Silver:
Eating
with a silver plate and drinking in a silver tumbler promotes a healthy
metabolism and immune system. Furthermore, dining with silverware has been
shown to prevent a variety of health issues.
In
India, people use silver vessels for newborn babies. Silver is the metal that
is free from bacteria, no toxins are present, and it boosts the immunity.
Iron:
Use
iron vessels for cooking. The iron cookware is the greatest option since it
naturally releases iron, which is necessary for proper bodily function. In
fact, several studies have shown that cooking with iron utensils is beneficial
to pregnant women since it gives the optimum nutrients for the baby's
development in the womb.
Harmful metals for
cooking:
Please
avoid using copper vessels, brass vessels, aluminium vessels and plastic vessels
for food serving and cooking. It leads to many diseases.
Aluminium vessels:
Don’t
use aluminium; because aluminium heats up quickly and reacts easily with acidic
vegetables and foods, it's best to avoid cooking with it. These chemical processes
will affect the immune system.
Copper vessels:
Copper
utensils are excellent for drinking water; however, they are not appropriate
for cooking. Because of their reactivity, copper containers should be avoided
when cooking salty foods. The iodine in salt interacts immediately with copper,
releasing many more copper particles.
Copper
utensils are frequently avoided when cooking because this isn't very good for
our bodies. Furthermore, if a copper cooking pot is not adequately lined, it
leaks dangerous compounds into the food when it is placed on the flame.
Brass vessels:
Brass
is one of the common metals, which is why the most traditional dishes are still
prepared with brass equipment. Because of the thick base of the utensil,
several old chicken recipes, mutton recipes and biryani recipes were cooked in
enormous brass vessels. When heated, brass reacts with salty foods, which is
not good for our health. Brass is not as dangerous as other utensils and can be
used (with caution) once in a while.
These
are the best methods of eating. Please try to follow this and live healthily
and happily.
Eat healthy
Live happily
Keep smiling.
